Car Insurance Volvo (Car Insurance). What is the standard tire size on a 03 jeep wrangler sahara?

What is the standard tire size on a 03 jeep wrangler sahara? I have 31x10.50 so I was wondering if that made the speedometer read wrong.

Stock tyre size was 225/70/16 which is 28.4 inches. A 30" tire was also available as an option. Stock axle gearing depends whether you have an auto or manual gearbox and what size tires were fitted. standard size is a 225/75/15 its like a 27" tire. So yeah.. 31s are bigger and it probably knocks off 5mph on your speedo. Quadratec.com sells a gear you can put in that will resync your speedometer. heres an example of what you could get if you decide on keeping the 31s http://www.quadratec.com/products/55200_35.htm The Sahara likely came with 30 inch tires. Going to a 31 may send the speedo off a little, but it couldn't be by too much. Just use a GPS to find out how far its off at like 35 mph and at 70 mph so you know how much to compensate.

Volvo . 2000 Grand Am burning oil too fast?

2000 Grand Am burning oil too fast? I bought my little brother's 2000 Grand Am and have been fixing it up. Yesterday I drove it about 5 miles and all of a sudden the check oil light started flashing, the car started to idle hard, and it was dragging a little when accelerating from a full stop. My brother said he got an oil change when he bought the car (which was three months ago), then had to put three quarts of oil in after driving it a couple of weeks. I checked the dipstick today and the oil is low and very black. There was a little oil on the old spark plugs when I changed them, but I did not see oil anywhere else around the engine, or on the ground under the car. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem could be? car insurance.

Volvo . How to Replace the Vent Filter in a 2007 Acura MDX & RDX

Both the 2007 Acura MDX and the 2007 Acura RDX use the same-size vent filter, which is located in the same place on both vehicles. The vent filter is more commonly known as the cabin air filter. It keeps the air conditioning and vent system in the cabin of the vehicle clean and free of dust and allergens. Acura recommends replacing the filter every 10,000 miles or once a year. Driving in heavy traffic or dusty conditions will cause the filter to become dirty more quickly.
Difficulty:Moderately Easy
Instructions Things You'll Need
Replacement vent filter

Step by Step :
1
Open the glove box. Remove any contents. Unhook the stop bar on the right side of the open glove box by pulling it out away from the glove box.
2
Push in on both sides of the glove compartment to unhook the glove box from the dash. Tilt the glove box down to expose the vent filter compartment.
3
Pull the filter frame toward the rear of the vehicle to remove it from the compartment. Remove the old filter from the frame.
4
Insert the new vent filter into the filter frame. Make sure the tabs on the sides of the frame cover the filter. Slide the filter frame into the filter compartment.
5
Tilt the glove compartment up to hook it back into place on the dash. Replace the lock bar on the right side of the glove compartment.

Volvo . How to Replace a Cabin Filter on a 2003 Dodge Caravan

The climate control system in a 2003 Dodge Caravan is responsible for creating the cold air in the summer or hot air in the winter that makes driving in the minivan more comfortable. Sometimes though, an odor from the climate control system makes driving a bit unpleasant. One way to fix the problem is to change the cabin air filter. This filter sits in the middle of the climate control system and filters the air going through the system, getting rid of odors in the process.
Difficulty:Easy
Instructions Things You'll Need
Replacement cabin air filter

Step by Step :
1
Open the front passenger door. Look underneath the glove box to locate the cabin air filter compartment, which has a small door with a knob on it.
2
Twist the knob to open the door. Pull out the cabin air filter with your hands and discard it.
3
Insert the replacement cabin air filter into the climate control system with the same orientation as as the old one as you were removing it and close the filter compartment door.

• The transmission should be removed and disassembled. • The seals, clutches, bands, and bushings that are worn or defective should be replaced. Chapter 17: What to Do If Your Transmission Stops Running Smoothly " If your transmission must be replaced: The old transmission must be removed and a new one installed. You do have an option as to whether you replace it with a used, rebuilt, or new transmission. I make the distinction between used and rebuilt because you can buy a transmission from a wrecking yard that has salvaged one designed for your vehicle's year, make, and model. This option is cheap, but risky. Or you can find a rebuilt one that has been salvaged and then completely refurbished and warranted for at least three months. These cost a bit more, but you get a chance to make sure that the thing is in good working order. Occasionally, gearshifts may become hard to move. This problem can happen if the gearshift linkage, which connects the shift lever to the rods that go to the transmission, needs adjustment, lubrication, or minor repair. These repairs aren't expensive and should certainly be investigated before you let anyone talk you into major transmission work.

Front-wheel-drive vehicles have a transmission and axle assembly all in one, called a transaxle. All-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive vehicles usually have an additional component called a transfer case. Expect to pay more for transaxle repairs and transmission repairs on vehicles with a transfer case. As you can see, knowing what kind of transmission work is necessary can save you from paying for more work than you need. A number of other things can go wrong and seem to indicate that you need major transmission work to correct them; yet these problems often can be fixed for very little money. An unscrupulous mechanic can diagnose one of the problems as a major transmission breakdown and charge you hundreds of dollars when the real solution could be achieved for much less. (See "Those low-transmission-fluid blues" and "The malfunctioning vacuum modulator caper," earlier in this chapter, for two of these scams.) Protecting \loursetf from Being RippedOff on Transmission Work When your transmission needs work, you have to rely on professionals, but that doesn't mean that you have to blindly accept whatever they tell you. Transmission repairs can range from regular service, which is relatively simple and inexpensive, to highly complicated and very expensive rebuilds and replacements. The best way to get an accurate diagnosis and the repairs that your vehicle really needs is to follow the advice I give in this section. For transmission repairs, take your car to a reputable transmission specialist and ask the technician to diagnose the trouble and give you an estimate of the costs. Do not let the technician take the thing apart. Once your transmission is in pieces, you're a sitting duck. Have the specialist drive the car, listen to it, ask you questions about its history and its symptoms, and give you his or her ideas. The technician may say, "You may just need your bands tightened, or you may need a new transmission; I can't tell until I open it up." Fine. Ask for estimates for both jobs and, if the prognosis is expensive, get additional estimates. You'd see several doctors before choosing one for major surgery, wouldn't you? Here are some guidelines for getting the best deal on major transmission work: * Get three estimates, or more if the first three vary widely. Discard the highest estimates. Discard a very low one, too: If it seems way out of line with the others, it may be a hustle. Then return to the place with the fairest price and/or the best vibes. Of course, an enthusiastic recommendation from someone you know who is fairly knowledgeable about cars is usually worth extra points when you're deciding. But I'd get at least one other estimate anyway. 0 After the work is underway, ask to be notified about what they find when they open it up. Will it be a simple adjustment or a major rebuild? Get the estimated costs on the receipt, signed by you, before the actual work begins, and ask to be called if that estimate changes because they uncover other problems. 0 Ask them to save the parts they replace so that you can see what you paid for. Consumer laws in many states hold the repair facility responsible for failing to provide a written estimate, for failing to notify the customer if the estimate increases radically because more problems have been uncovered, and for failing to turn over parts that have been replaced when you've asked that they be saved. Now go home, cross your fingers, and wait for the operation to be over. Of course, you may still be ripped off, but you'll know that you've done everything possible to prevent it. And because you've been so canny about estimates, open about shopping around, familiar with the transmission itself (read Chapter 9), and insistent about written estimates and such, you just might scare someone who would like to cheat you into doing a good job and charging you properly for it. If this whole thing sounds paranoid, so be it. The fact is that a few bad apples give the honest, hard-working, car-loving, competent transmission specialists a lot of competition. So go ahead and be paranoid — it can't hurt. You haven't done anything to insult the shop; you've just been careful. Chapter 22 has lots of advice about finding a good repair facility and keeping one happy, and it tells you how to get satisfaction on complaints if you get ripped off anyway. .Chapter 17: What to Do If Your Transmission Stops Running Smoothly How to keep from driving your transmission crazy

Driving your vehicle with expertise can prevent many of the most common causes of transmission failure. This involves getting into the proper gearto reduce the strain on the engine and the transmission, and not riding your clutch. A good driver with a manual transmission learns to watch the tachometer, or just "feel" the car's need for more power or more speed, and shift into the proper gear for each occasion. But many drivers with automatic transmissions just shift into Drive and go up steep hills, carry heavy loads, and bounce into jackrabbit starts, happily oblivious to the fact that even automatic transmissions have gear selectors that provide one or two lower gears for these occasions. An automatic transmission works with gears, too. If you're in low gear, you're transmitting more power to your rear wheels, and your transmission feels the strain. If you attempt to speed in a low gear, you strain the transmission even more. On the other hand, if you attempt to climb hills in high gear, you force the car to make the effort in a gear that lacks the power for the job. The result: more strain. To avoid unnecessary wear and tear and extend the life of your transmission, whether it's manual or automatic, use the following shifting strategies: *** When you need a sudden burst of speed, use passing gear. On vehicles with an automatic transmission, passing gear provides the same kind of increased power that downshifting a manual transmission does. You use passing gear when you're already in high gear and need an extra burst of power to pass a car or enter a freeway. If you've been traveling at less than 50 mph, the sudden flooring of the accelerator makes your car downshift automatically from High to Second, which provides more power by speeding up the engine. When you release the pedal, the car goes back to High. Use Overdrive (or Fifth gear on a manual transmission), if you have it, when you're travelling along steadily at a high speed. With Overdrive or Fifth, you have an extra, higher gear that allows your rear wheels to turn even faster while maintaining the same engine speed. After you're really moving, shifting into Overdrive means that you can move at the same speed while the engine turns more slowly and consumes less fuel. Shift to higher gears as soon as your speed enters their range. (Your owner's manual should tell you the range of speed for each gear.) There's no need to supply extra power when it's not needed. However, if traffic slows and you feel the engine straining (called lugging), downshift to allow the lower gears to provide more power. When the engine is lugging, shift into a lower gear so that it can turn faster and carry you along with less strain. After you get everything moving freely, return to a higher gear. Use lower gears for heavy loads and steep hills. If you come to a steep hill — or if you're carrying four kids, two dogs, and everything you'll need for a month in the country — go for the lower gears instead of trying to haul the whole mess as fast as you can. Then shift back up again to coast down the hill. This way, the power goes toward carrying the load ratherthan toward maintaining speed. Part III: Keeping Your Car in Good Condition, System by System
